We wanted to take the opportunity to introduce our wonderful staff and share some little known facts about us. Meet our newest colleague, Dr. Gordon He!
1. How long have you been working in your field?
I graduated with a degree in Dental Surgery from the University of Western Ontario in 2009. At graduation, I was selected as the recipient of the American Association of Endodontics Student Achievement Award.
I have practiced in general dentistry in both private dental clinics and the Alberta Dental Association + the College mobile dental clinic. As the primary dentist of the mobile dental clinic, I provided comprehensive dental care for medically or mobility compromised residents of long-term care facilities in Edmonton, Calgary, and surrounding areas. My service was recognized by the Alberta Dental Association + College. In 2013, I volunteered in the Tygerberg Oral Health Centre in Cape Town, South Africa for two months, providing dental care to underprivileged patients with limited resources!
2. What inspired you to pursue dentistry?
Dentistry is more of an art than a science. It requires mastery and techniques to restore teeth and make a smile beautiful. I like having a unique ability to transform someone’s life and health through dental medicine and hands-on treatments.
3. What do you enjoy most about your job?
Being part of a fantastic team that takes pride in providing optimal and compassionate dental care.
4. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose and why?
Cape Town, South Africa. In 2013, my wife accepted an international medicine residency program at Cape Town. I decided to quit my private practice position in Edmonton and tag along! While I was there I volunteered in the Tygerberg Oral Health Centre for two months, providing care to underprivileged patients with limited resources. Cape Town is amazing. The food, people, culture, wildlife… blew me away.
